Friday Favourites #1

I am completely rubbish at doing monthly favourites and all those sort of posts. Absolutely dreadful. Mainly because I'm a creature of habit and I don't often try new things! However 2017 if nothing else is going to be a year of change and growth for me so I'm starting a new series here on the blog. A Friday Favourites series where every week I tell you what's been tickling my pickle for the last seven days. Or ya know, a less disturbing simile!

Let's crack on with this week! This week has been a funny one. It felt like the first proper week of the year because it was the first full week back at work and college and the return to normality. Except it was marred by a bereavement at work so I had a full day off to myself midweek with nothing to do except be plagued by my thoughts. That wasn't fun.

I've come out the end of this week with a determination to not waste any time. Cliché it might be but life is bloody short and you don't honestly know how much time you're gonna have to do everything you've been putting off. I'm going to do every single thing I want to this year including smashing every goal I have and making lots of memories!

On with the favourites:

Fitbit Charge 2
One of the things I implemented in the New Year was a post-Christmas spending ban because god damn my bank account needed a rest. One of the things that I got under the wire in the sales before this ban started was my Fitbit Charge 2. I'd been dithering about getting a Fitbit for the longest time but never actually bit the bullet and got one until I saw one of my friends with hers and thought sod it! And I'm so glad I did. I love this little gadget so much. I use it for monitoring my steps, calories burned and sleep quality. I've set goals on the app and I'm enjoying trying to fulfil them every day. It's really helping my goal to improve my fitness even if it's just wee baby steps! Would thoroughly recommend!

Skincare
Another ban I implemented after Christmas was on buying makeup because between advent calendars, giveaways and presents, I got so much makeup during the Christmas period. Don't me wrong, I am an avid makeup hoarder but I really need to start using the makeup that I own before I can buy anymore so when I had Superdrug vouchers and points to spend, I splashed out on some skincare bits. My favourites of which being the Loreal Pure Clay masks and the Nip + Fab glycolic scrub.
I'm going to do a post on my skincare routine in the next couple of weeks so I won't go into that much detail but I am obsessed with skincare at the moment! I am so lucky to have good skin because I did not take care of it as a teenager so I want to keep it good. I want to avoid wrinkles for as long as possible haha!

Herbal Tea
I've been bloody loving herbal tea this week. The babes for me would be Tetley Berry Boost tea and Twinings Lemon and Ginger tea. I have a really low caffeine tolerance so I'm trying to veer away from coffee, though I still need my morning latte to give me a buzz, and these teas have been my absolute faves. They're tasty, they don't make me feel ill which coffee does if I have a lot of it and they give me loads of energy but they don't keep me awake at night. I'm totally aware that I am so late to this party and the herbal tea phase has been and gone but I'm finally on the bandwagon!

Ed Sheeran
Holding my hands up and admitting it! I've never been much of an Ed Sheeran fan! No I never actively disliked him, he just wasn't on my radar and the songs I did hear were just alright to me. Never really got the hype around him. Which is okay! I go gaga for stuff that so many people wouldn't get. When he dropped that he had an announcement, all my social media feeds went off and I mean ALL! Ed was everywhere! Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even on Snapchat, everyone was buzzing for this announcement. So when the new songs dropped, I wasn't bothered at all until I caught the end of 'Shape Of You' on the radio. Thought it sounded quite good so I went on Spotify and looked up the songs. Then I had to eat every word that I ever said about not being fan or getting the hype around Ed because oh my god I bloody loved them. 'Castle On The Hill' has been on repeat for DAYS. Just shows that you live and learn and should never say never!

Making plans!
A lot of time was spent this week in various group chats talking about plans! Travel plans, dinner plans, just plans to hang out, they're all exciting me to the max!  I love having plans in place and chatting excitedly about plans! It's one of my favourite things and 2017 already has me buzzing because I have so much to look forward to with such lovely people!

So do you like this weekly sort of format with favourites posts? Good? Bad? Meh? Let me know in the comments! I'd love your feedback!
