Blogmas Day 13: 5 Things I Like About Me

It's 3:00am when I'm writing this. I've just had a god awful couple of days mental health wise and I don't really have much of rest period to recover because I have two jobs, assignments, family stuff and Christmas to deal with. My mental health really doesn't have the best timing.

It's about this time that the little dark voices begin to creep into my head, dripping their poison in my ear about how I'm a failure, how I can't do anything right etc.

I know these voices are wrong. I'm doing my best with what I've got and I'm working damn hard. So to keep those voices at bay, I'm making a list about the things I like about me. It's totally self-serving but sometimes you need to remind yourself of the reasons why you're awesome.

1. My face.

It took a long time and a lot of self esteem issues to reconcile myself to the fact that I wasn't as heinously ugly as I previously believed. I still have moments of self deprecation but I also can take a banging selfie in which I look pretty fab!

2. My creativity.

I don't paint, sing or anything like that but I can write. I have so many characters that pop into my head fully formed and when I'm having a bad day or I'm daydreaming, writing their stories inside my head is one of my favourite things to do. I'm really proud of that creative element within myself and I take comfort in the fact that writing will always be something that I'm good at.

3. My passion.

Whether it be a tv show, a book, my family or my friends; I am insanely passionate about the things and people that I love.

4. My friends.

I know this isn't exactly about me but I love my friends. My friends are bloody awesome. They make the good times even better and pull me through the bad. I wouldn't be myself without my friends <3 p="">

5. I'm a survivor.

This sounds so dramatic but it's true. I've come through a lot of crap in the last ten years and it's almost broken me but it's also made me stronger and made me who I am today. As cliche as that is, it's one thing that I'll always hold onto.
