Bye 2016, Hello 2017!

Finishing off 2016 on this blog, the way I started it with my Instagram best nine collage! Feels nice to bookend the year like this plus the photos are so pretty! Let's just ignore that all but two of the photos are from my holiday in October 🙈

Blogmas Fail

Holding my hands up and admitting it: I failed Blogmas.

I got thirteen posts up (not on thirteen consecutive days but we'll not dwell on that) and then I dropped off the face of the earth blogging wise. Blogmas was a very last minute decision for me and I thought I'd be able to juggle two jobs, studying, assignments AND blogging. Oh what a sweet summer child I was.

Blogmas Day 13: 5 Things I Like About Me

It's 3:00am when I'm writing this. I've just had a god awful couple of days mental health wise and I don't really have much of rest period to recover because I have two jobs, assignments, family stuff and Christmas to deal with. My mental health really doesn't have the best timing.

It's about this time that the little dark voices begin to creep into my head, dripping their poison in my ear about how I'm a failure, how I can't do anything right etc.

I know these voices are wrong. I'm doing my best with what I've got and I'm working damn hard. So to keep those voices at bay, I'm making a list about the things I like about me. It's totally self-serving but sometimes you need to remind yourself of the reasons why you're awesome.

Blogmas Day 12: Afternoon Tea At Galgorm Resort & Spa

It's a bit of a trend right now but I love going for afternoon tea. It's always just a lovely little treat that makes you feel special and swish. Recently I went with my Mum to the Conservatory at Galgorm Resort and Spa for their afternoon tea and I thought I'd share my experience for Blogmas!

Blogmas Day 11: Blogmas Interruptus

Hello! Yes I am still alive! I kind of dropped off the face of the blogging earth for a few days. I'll be honest; it's not been a great few days.

Sidenote: If you're reading this chronologically, which you probably are because I posted them that way (I really did not think this through!), I missed days eight through ten of Blogmas so I back-posted the content that I would have put up then and then this little explanation. Right, back to your regularly scheduled Blogmas...

Blogmas Day 10: Christmas Nails

On the tenth day of Blogmas I give you a mini nail polish haul! I went to Superdrug the other day with my friends. One of my friends was browsing the nail polish section and because I am impressionable as, I picked up a few Barry M bits even though I work in fast food service and can't have my nails done ever but they're so pretty that it doesn't matter!

Blogmas Day 9: My December Glossybox

One of the things I look forward to most about a new month is that I'll be getting my new Glossybox in the post! I bloody love beauty subscription boxes. I know the market is entirely saturated right now and there's twenty billion to choose from but I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Glossybox because it was one of the first ones I ever subscribed to and am still subscribed to so they must be doing something right! So for Blogmas, I thought I'd share what was in my December box!

Blogmas Day 8: Advent Calendar Update

I've always wanted to get a beauty advent calendar but always held off on getting one for one reason or another! This year I had my eye on the Make Up Revolution one because they're one of my favourite brands and it was quite affordable! But 1st December came and I hadn't got one. Then I saw so many photos on Twitter of advent calendar updates and I caught a major case of FOMO. So I went onto Superdrug and ordered it! Well over a week late but who cares! Merry Advent Everyone!

So I thought I'd share the first eight day's worth of products for Blogmas!

Blogmas Day 7: My Favourite Christmas Films!

Literally one of the only good things about the absolute crap fest of weather that we get at this time of year that it’s the perfect excuse to get a fire going, get some hot chocolate and stick a film on while the apocalypse of winter rages on outside.

Christmas films are definitely on the menu when this sort of weather rears it’s ugly head. It’s practically mandatory once you hit about the second week in December. There are some absolute belters of seasonal films out there for the sampling and for Blogmas I thought I’d share some of my festive favourites!
Now these are just my personal faves so don’t lambast me if I’ve left some classics off the list!

Blogmas Day 6: Am I Good Enough?

One thing that you should know about me is that ever since I was eight years old and I filled an old school jotter up with a story about a maid who married her grumpy boss (Soz I was very stereotypical back then and apparently ripping off Jane Eyre) I’ve wanted to be a writer.

Writing is what I do best. Always has been. I’ve always been a really creative person but I’m not an artist, a singer, or a dancer, I’m a writer. I’m good with words, really good with words, but I’m so crap at articulating myself out loud. I get nervous, tongue tied and end up stuttering off into an awkward silence with a beetroot red face. I am so much better on paper than I am in real life. True fact.

Blogmas Day 5: My Christmas Playlist!

One of the best things about Christmas is the music! I count down the days every year until it's acceptable to start blaring the tunes! And I'm listening to them with my headphones on from mid November 😂  So I thought I'd share my Christmas playlist for Blogmas!

Blogmas Day 4: Christmas Tree Reveal

So I failed at Blogmas today because the post I had planned to go up sort of ran out of steam halfway through and I ran out of time to come up with anything new because I've been away celebrating my birthday! I seriously need to preschedule these blog posts for instances like this! I will be back in full force tomorrow! In the mean time, here's a photo of my Christmas tree which I decorated when I got home from London today. I'm in bloody love with it!

Blogmas Day 3: Beauty Gift Guide

Welcome to the third day of Blogmas! Today I thought I’d talk you through my beauty gift guide! Now these are just my personal picks, I tried to do a good mix of budget, high end, makeup, skin care etc. so there would theoretically be something for everyone! Now while you read on, I’ll be online shopping because writing this is giving me a yen to shop! Like I need a bloody excuse. Also I have to apologise in advance for my overuse of ‘perfect gift’ and ‘must have gift’, I haven’t yet realised that I’m not a presenter on a shopping channel….

Blogmas Day Two: The Winter Tag

One of the many paradoxes that make up my personality is that while I hate being cold, I love winter. Bloody love it! Hot drinks, warm fires and cosy socks. It’s my favourite time of year. So I thought I’d do ‘The Winter Tag’. I saw it on ThatSoBee a while back and thought I’d give some of the questions a whirl!

Blogmas Day One - Here Goes Nothing!

Last Christmas, I failed at Blogmas. I posted two posts on my old blog and gave up. This year however I have lists, I have drafts, I have props for photos. I’m prepared for Blogmas! Come at me Blogmas!

Really though, I want to make a real effort to post every day this year. I want to do this so I can prove myself that I can. I’m away to London at the weekend for my birthday so right now I’m writing up five blog posts and taking photos for posts to go live while I’m away. Theoretically by the time this post goes up, I will have scheduled at least three other posts. Let’s hope past me didn’t fall asleep on the job ;)

Now all the posts won’t be Christmas themed because damn I don’t think I could consistently provide wall to wall festive cheer for thirty days straight (I’m blogging right up until new year!) so I’ll be doing some other posts as well. Including the travel diaries I was supposed to have up in November and some beauty reviews that I’m dying to share.

I know I’m cheating slightly by having a short introductory post as my day one but ya know I wanted to inform you all about what’s happening (And ease myself in gently, not gonna lie)

I am so excited to get started but fingers crossed my steam doesn’t run out mid month!! Is anyone else doing Blogmas? Comment me your links so I can keep up with your posts :)

The November Slump

It is worth noting that I wrote this post with every intention of posting it straight after I'd finished (on Saturday 12th November) writing it but once I'd finished, checked it for spelling mistakes and knocked up a header image, it was well after midnight so I thought it best to schedule it to go live the next morning :)

-

I watched a video today by Dodie Clark (This one, go watch, she's fab!) which she made about her recent tour, her mental health on tour and her upcoming EP release. In this video she said something that really resonated with me and made me think: "There is always an up after a down."

Get To Know Me!

God the first week after a holiday is over is a complete drag isn't it? It's been a whole week since I got back from the USA and I'm flagging terribly. No french toast for breakfast every day and no awesome buildings to jazz up my insta feed with. What is even the point, eh?

It's not as melancholy as all that but I'll admit I'm feeling a little blue. However throwing myself into writing my Disney and travel blog posts is cheering me immensely. These should be making their way onto my blog in the coming weeks but for now I've got a cheeky little tag post for you all .

I saw this "Get To Know Me" tag on Shannice Alice a while ago and thought I'd give it a go to let you guys know a little more about me :)

Plans, Plans, Plans!

(Excuse the rush job header.)

I’m a planner. I like organisation. To do lists, post it notes, labels etc. I love the lot of them! Making plans and lists makes me feel like I’ve got my life in check and that I’m that little bit more control of things.

What I am not is good at following through on aforementioned plans!

Most of my lovely plans never transpire because I am just the absolute worst at succeeding at life. One prime example of this is that I had planned a whole month’s worth of Disney posts to put on here for October because I was so mega excited about my upcoming trip to Disneyland Paris but hey look it’s almost the middle of October and I haven’t posted anything yet ><.

I shouldn’t beat myself up too much because my life is mega busy right now. I’m working two days a week at my Digital Marketing job, I’m working evening and weekends at my other job and I’m studying three days a week. So yeah, while I have the best of intentions I don’t necessarily have the time to execute them!

I wanna try though! I want to be more active on this blog! I have so many posts that I’m excited about just sitting in my drafts! So I’m gonna talk you through what I’ve got planned for the next couple of months!

Life Update: It's Brilliant! ...and I'm terrified!

You know when things are just going right? You don’t miss your bus, you find an amazing deal online, you get offered your dream job without even trying etc. Well that’s how things are going for me right now! Yes, you read it right! For once life is going absolutely swimmingly and I’m actually so happy I could burst.

And it terrifies the absolute crap out of me.

Everyday Makeup Favourites

I own a lot of makeup. A lot of makeup. It's not a massive collection that fills up three chests of drawers but it's pretty impressive if I do say so myself. It's also a growing collection! I buy so much new makeup that my Dad acts surprised when the postman doesn't have a parcel for me!

Though out of my vast collection only a few sacred bits work their way into my everyday routine. When I'm getting ready for work or for going out to coffee with the girls, I want pieces that I can lay my hands to immediately and that I know so well that I don't even have to think when I apply them. I've perfected my everyday makeup to thirty minutes, fifteen if I'm in a rush, and I'd thought I'd share some of my staple bits and bobs that make up my everyday favourites!

Mini Beauty Haul + First Impressions!

I love a good haul! Who doesn't love a good haul? Especially a beauty haul! Well my bank account doesn't love hauls that's for sure! Every time I watch a haul video on Youtube or read a haul post on someone's blog, I come away with a shopping list as long as my arm!

Work has swallowed up most of my free time in the last couple of months so I've sadly not had the time or energy to blog. However summer is coming and I really want to get back into blogging so I thought I'd ease myself back in by doing a good old fashioned haul post of some bits I picked up at the start of the month! I'll be including my first impressions of the products too!

AYU Makeup Travel Set Review

After all the hype surrounding the Irish Beauty Show a couple of weeks back I was left with a mighty hankering to try several new brands that I'd heard about on Facebook and Snapchat. One being AYU Makeup. Set up by Suzanne O'Neill and Laura Maher with the aim to create and sell affordable makeup brushes that don't compromise on quality. After a recommendation from the lovely Lucy Bradley on Snapchat, I decided to purchase the travel set!

My Snapchat Faves!

This post is beyond overdue! I hit a blogging slump for a bit but I'm back and better than ever.
Well I'm back ;)

This is going to sound corny but I remember the day I joined Snapchat, I had been in Belfast with some friends and they convinced me to download the app and create an account. I thought it was so weird, what was the appeal of sending photos that got deleted in a few seconds? How naive I was! A couple of years later and the first thing I do in the morning is check the stories of the people I follow on Snapchat! I’m so obsessed with Snapchat and I follow some wonderful gals who have unreal makeup skills so I thought I’d share some of my faves!

The Outlander Tag!

Outlander season 2 is a mere THREE WEEKS away from hitting the UK. Now if you haven't experienced the joy that is Outlander, I recommend you go straight to Amazon UK, get a 30 free day trial of Prime and binge watch it immediately. You won't regret it I promise!

If you need any further encouragement, check out this season 1 trailer that Amazon UK put out last year. It's my absolute favourite trailer for season 1 by far!

New Look Wishlist!

One of my absolute favourite pastimes (i.e ways to procrastinate) is to surf various clothing websites and build up a mental shopping basket of stuff that I'm lusting after and that I definitely can't afford! And one of my others is reading blogger wish lists for specific shops! So I thought I'd share what's lurking in my New Look wishful thinking shopping basket!

Most Anticipated TV Shows Of 2016

Not gonna lie I’m feeling the January blues right now. The Christmas decorations are all gone, all the food in the fridge is boring again and all the things I ordered to help me get through the post-Christmas slump have stopped arriving. Not feeling that YAY NEW YEAR LET’S GO vibe just yet. However one of the things I love most about a new year is the new seasons of some of my favourite tv shows! To get me in the mood I thought I’d share a few which I’m really flipping excited about!

New Year, Same Me, New blog!

"I might only have one match. But I can make an explosion."

I've been feeling totally uninspired with my other blogs for the last six months. I've lost all motivation for writing about anything which makes me really sad. So a fresh start on a new blog, on a new platform might just be the ticket. Though this won't be a swish glossy blog with all the expectations I usually place on myself. Basically it's going to be an emotional dumping ground for whatever I feel like writing. I was toying with the idea of writing a diary this year a la Bridget Jones then thought a blog would do the exact same job :)
